Laboratory automation aims to automate and autonomize all aspects of research and development using AI and robotics. Developing and implementing laboratory automation requires a high-level integration of its core components: hardware, software, operations management, and application fields such as life sciences, materials science, and chemistry. However, it is unrealistic for a single researcher or developer to acquire expertise in all these areas. Therefore, fostering deep collaboration among researchers and developers—both in academia and industry, especially those working on-site—is essential for the successful advancement of laboratory automation.

Our association, researchers and developers working on automating various processes in life science and chemistry work as core members, serves as a developer community targeting a broad definition of laboratory automation, including experiment automation, analysis automation, and laboratory management automation.

We organize the Laboratory Automation Monthly Workshop (#LA_Study) and the Laboratory Automation Developers Conference (LADEC) to facilitate collaboration among professionals in this field.
